Working at Olson as a Software Engineer, I was privledged to work on Bauer.com. I touched all aspects of the site, from connecting Java layers to Coldfusion layers and Daisy CMS, using Coldbox as our main Coldfusion web framework for the presentation layer. As well as creating a thick client CMS tool for the site that utilizes JAXB webservices, Backbone.js and Require.js.

For the 2011 re-launch of the Kidrobot site Olson was commissioned to handle design and development. I served as one of the lead developers on the task, creating dynamic templates for catalog items, and creating social widgets utilizing an array of social APIs (including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube, Vimeo, and various RSS feeds) and many others parts of the site.

Something About Radishes


Something About Radishes is my personal web comic I recently made. It was built in Ruby on Rails deployed on Heroku, storing all assets to a Amazon Web Service S3 bucket. The site features a working clock tower written in CoffeeScript, CSS compiled with SASS, and time sensitive layout.

While at IQ Marketing, I took over the role of C#/ASP.NET support for the Nebraska Lottery, building several expansions on the Nebraska Lottery Connect, a player maintanence site. I enhanced the site's administrative capabilities, added increased search functionality and corrected previously built less stable components.

RainyDay Interactive is the personal brand of Emma Steimann.

Emma is a Software Engineer currently based in the Twin Cities. She received her Bachelors of Science in Web Design and Interactive Media from the Art Institutes International Minnesota. Learning new languages and frameworks rapidly, her languages of choice are Ruby on Rails for personal projects and in the workplace preferring to work on Java, iOS or C# projects.
